GENEVA

THINGS TO DO

Walk around the city and Old Town. The city is beautiful, with many side streets and hidden gems to explore, and the roads are full of extravagant cars!

Visit the Jet D'eau. This iconic and must-see area in Geneva is a beautiful and scenic walk, and you can learn why it exists along the way!

Cathedrals and Museums. There are many free cathedrals and museums to visit. You could spend hours in the 'Musée d'Art et d'Histoire', which has a QR code to scan, allowing you to scan artworks/statues you pass and receive a paragraph describing what the artwork/statue is.

Visit the longest bench in Europe. On a clear day, this location offers incredible views of the French Alps. Opposite the bench is a kid's park, making it an excellent area for families.

The Reformation Wall. Located underneath the longest bench in Europe, the Reformation Wall is a must-see for history lovers!

Life-size checkers and chess. Close to the Reformation Wall are human-size checkers and chess boards! If you like to play, why not give a human-size version a go?

Riverboats. In Geneva, transport is free, meaning you can makeshift a riverboat tour by hopping on multiple riverboats! This was a highlight of the day, as it passed by the Jet D'eau and had incredible views of the French Alps! The riverboat has an outdoor area, which I recommend on a sunny day!

Botanical Gardens. Nature lovers will love the Botanical gardens. There is so much to see that you could easily spend a lot of time here!

WHERE TO EAT

Utopia Cafe. Utopia is a small cafe with multiple locations around the city. It is a convenient place for a quick refuel. I recommend the banana bread!

Lucky Grill. If you're looking for a burger grill, this would be the perfect place to go with multiple burger options. It is reasonably priced and close to Geneva Cornavin station (right next to the Rue Montbrilliant 2 Hotel)!

Buvettedesbains. If you want to try the famous cheese fondue, this is the perfect place! There are many places that serve cheese fondue; however, this one was the most affordable! The area does get busy, so bear that in mind; however, it is a lovely area that is even better on a sunny day!

Au Petit Chalet. If you are looking for the perfect Italians, I recommend Au Petit Chalet! When you enter, the servers are extremely friendly, offering to take your coat and accommodate you the best they can. The food was lovely, and the service was super quick! It was reasonably priced, around £18pp (considering the expensive city).

Visit chocolate shops. The city has many chocolate shops, many of which offer free samples to try before you buy! Although chocolate is expensive, it is a nice treat!

WHERE TO STAY

I'd recommend staying in Genève Cornavin, as it is very close to the centre but without the centre prices!

The area had bars and restaurants, and it was only a 20-minute walk into the city centre!

Due to the free transport, it's worth staying outside of the city centre to save money!

The hotel I stayed in was Rue Montbrilliant 2, which is less than a 5-minute walk from the Genève Cornavin station and not far from the airport!

The staff here is super friendly. The hotel staff gave us free adaptor plugs (because we forgot our own!), recommendations and a free city transport pass!

WHO WOULD THIS TYPE OF TRIP BE SUITED TO?

Geneva would be suited to city lovers who like to wander and explore! The views of the French Alps are incredible and perfect for taking in the scenery.

BEST EXPERIENCE FROM THE TRIP?

I loved everything! The views were breathtaking in person, and I loved customising a riverboat tour with the free transport!

FAVOURITE RESTAURANT VISITED?

My favourite restaurant was Au Petit Chalet. The quick service, tasty food, and unique atmosphere definitely made it worth the trip!

General Comments and Tips:

Wear comfy shoes and clothes as the city has hills and cobblestone streets!

There are small food shops where you can buy fruit and snacks. If you want to save money for lunch and dinner, this could be a good breakfast option to prevent you from overspending on breakfast!
